Menopause and osteoporosis
• Almost all studies including strong evidenced randomized clinical trials shows that even low doses of estrogen significantly prevent bone loss.
• Combination treatment with estrogen and other common medications used for osteoporosis ( bisphosphonate) was far more superior in preventing bone loss and improving bone density.
• Statement from women health initiative(WHI) indicates that the benefits of hormone replacement therapy on osteoporosis outweigh the risks for women who are in their 50s and 60s.
